Surveys and Questionnaires Development/Administration

Surveys Surveys, questionnaires and similar instruments are simple to put together. Right? Wrong! Even though at first blush it may seem easy it is not. Issues like defining what information you want to get, how to frame your questions, language level, how the information will be used, what kind of resources will be required for administration just begin to tap the complexity of putting together a good data collection instrument. Using our proprietary Sir Veigh software we offer services equaling or exceeding organizations many times our size while maintaining competitive pricing. Sir Veigh has both a web based component for administering surveys and a PC based component for analyzing and reporting the data. Data from the web based component is also compatible with most standard statistical software packages.

Tests Development and Administration

Developing reliable and valid tests is a difficult and exacting process. For that reason we always recommend finding a valid test before endeavoring to build your own. But sometimes there is no test that meets your needs. When you think its time to build your own test give CER a call and we can talk to you about developing a test that fits your needs and your budget.

Employment Tests The cost of hiring the wrong person can be enormous. Another new hire, time lost, training costs, loss of confidence, possible unemployment burdens, lawsuits. So, let us help you select the best tools, and processes available to help you fill your vacancies. If you need something developed particularly for your needs we will bring all of skills to bear on the development effort.
Certification Testing Too often certification tests rely on testing on the full range of knowledge in the field. We strongly recommend considering domain sampling. Once developed a certification test can easily be delivered though Sir Veigh our on line survey and testing software.
Knowledge Tests Tests can be developed for a variety of purposes in a wide variety of knowledge domains. Some tests require graphics of one type or another and some may require sound or other specials effects. Software/Systems Development An end-to-end job often requires custom software or even systems development. We have developed complete systems in a wide variety of languages; our favorites are Java and Delphi. We are fully proficient in both Linux and Windows.
Online Surveys Our Sir Veigh Online software and web center lets us quickly implement online surveys of any complexity.
Web Site Development For other content, our web developer uses a time-tested development approach that minimizes complexity by avoiding massive content-management packages while retaining many of the features of template-oriented web sites.

Program Evaluation

Over our 15 year history the Center for Evaluation Research has focused on quantitative outcome evaluations. We also like to include anecdotal stories and participant satisfaction measures in our evaluations. Many of our evaluation projects have been multi-site projects focusing either on programs for families and children or for high risk youth. We have worked in extensively with different entities in the criminal justice system including the courts, and various departments of corrections. Private Sector Evaluations Most businesses utilized training but most training has never been evaluated rigorously. Course “evaluations” are usually nothing more than student satisfaction surveys. Little if any data is available regarding how well the students have mastered the material in the course and how much of what they have learned is actually used in the workplace. It is well past time when you should demand that your training courses be evaluated and be submitted to the same standards of quality as the rest of your business. Statistical Consulting Services

Research Design The most important part of any research project is the planning phase. During the planning phase all aspects of the research are examined and adjusted so that when it is time to conduct the research all the experimenter should have to worry about is accurately recording the conduct and data of the effort. The design needs to consider issues, like sample size and characteristics, statistics that will be applied, budgets, time lines, participant rights and so much more. Of all these elements the most exacting is the knowledge of statistics and that is where CER excels.
Statistical Analysis and Computing Anyone who owns a statistical analysis package can perform the procedures included in that package and with some direction they might even perform them correctly. Not anyone can write their own statistical procedures or have over 30 years using and teaching the use of standard statistical packages. Before there was an ANOVA procedure generally available to perform all standard, balanced design, we wrote our own. Since then we have written regression software, cluster procedures, reliability software, sampling equations and more when the standard packages just would not do. Of course when the standard packages will do you still have to know how to use them correctly. We can help guide our clients through the vast landscape of statistical procedures to the correct application to meet their needs. We can guide them through the forest of parameters to select those that best answer the questions of their research. Because of our expertise, SPSS, chose us a beta test site for their development package. We know statistical software and when we need to we can write our own.
